The secrets of game design
Everyday we use cars, elevators and all kind of stuff designed specially for us. People don't usually say "I am going to create an elevator! I use one everyday so I know a lot about elevators."
If speaking about video games the same words seems to have a different meaning: "I have played a lot of video games, so I have a lot of ideas to make one". Maybe you have heard these same words, or even you said them yourself.
The game designer world can be full of strange terms such as mechanics, dynamics, schadenfreude, positive and negative feedback loop, systems, patterns and others. Some designers even create their own new terms. Are game designers doing more than just thinking the ideas? Why all these words and what are the concepts within?
The event will start with the fastest introduction ever done to the 5 areas of game development. Followed by some guidelines to stop dreaming up ideas and start designing. And finally unveiling the great secret of game design.
